Anchored: An Embodied Childbirth Education Class
Time & Location
About the event
Welcome to the Anchored Childbirth Education Class!
During this childbirth education series, we will discuss classic concepts such as; anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, coping during labor, common tests in the childbearing year, healing in the postpartum, and newborn care. We will also spend time learning and practicing skills of grounding and distress tolerance to help during challenging moments in birth and parenting. Classes will also include somatic movement or meditation to help focus energy during class time.
This class series will meet in person, once a week for 8 weeks, and includes an online group available to participants for 6 months after class. The online space will be available for connecting, asking questions, venting and diving deeper into the concepts presented in class.
Class cohorts are broken down by due dates. We encourage people to take this class if your due date falls within 3/15/22-5/15/22. The online meeting space is designed to cover everyone in the group's 4th trimester and to help continue and build on the relationships created during the class. This is meant to create lasting connections and to help increase availability of support during the most acute parts of postpartum and beyond.
Each class will consist of four parts:
Childbirth education topic
Question and Answer
Vulnerability skills practice
This class is taught by Jamie Oller and Whitney Wolfe, two Licensed Midwives who have served the coastal community since 2019. To learn more about the Midwives please visit the "About the Midwives" page.
